“Fear Is The Mind Killer”
Dear business owners!
We often get asked the question: “What’re your goals for this New Year?”
Entrepreneurs are shouting:
- Double my sales!
- Start a franchise!
- Build my database!
- Try digital marketing!
These questions, naturally get the answers they deserve. And the results are – either they chase it, or they don’t.
Here at GoValue SA – We’d like to ask you the same question, a bit differently.
What are you afraid of?
Many businesses shy away from dipping their toes into the water of new things, changes, concepts, and especially technology that’ll make their life like, a billion times easier. We’re all guilty of it – and often, it’s because of one thing: fear.
More so, unspoken fear. We’d like to ask you, what are you afraid of for 2022? And help you write it down. A recent Dune movie’s famous litany says… “Fear is the mind-killer “ From this, we can extrapolate one key thing – (Unchecked) fear will smother every creative thought you have, as and when, they arrive.
Fear prompts irrational “knee-jerk” (re)actions or its polar opposite, inaction. So, we’d like to suggest you write down the things you WANT to do, as well as ALL the feelings of fear that come along with it.
And here’s how this might look on your page:
A. [WANT]
I want to create a successful LEAD-GENERATION machine that reaches out to new customers, and sells them the products they naturally want.
B. [FEAR]
But I’m afraid I’ve never tried this before!? Will I be able to manage it? Will I be able to discover a digital marketing agency that can help me/teach me?
Or
A. [WANT]
I want to create a NEW PRODUCT OFFERING.
B. [FEAR]
But I’m not sure HOW? Or if it breaks any rules?
Writing down what you want,
along with all the things you’re afraid of, puts it into perspective as to what you’re facing.
It’s not enough to want something – you need to know what stands in your way too. And writing it down is a brilliant way to separate your unspoken fears from yourself, so you can truly be creative in your business. This is the classic “David & Goliath” story, where sometimes, the goliath you’re facing… is just you.
Happy 2022 everyone.
